PARENTING ADVICE YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO

When you are pregnant, suddenly everyone feels entitled to offer their ‘advice’. Most of the time it is well-intentioned but it can be a bit intimidating as first time parents. I remember being told to ‘Sleep when the baby sleeps!’ and that turned out to be impossible to do safely as Freddie would only nap in the sling/on me until we did some nap training at seven months old.

In my experience, a lot of the advice is completely useless! However there are a few things that I was told, that I agree with and I think you should listen to.

FREDDIE’S 11 MONTH UPDATE | TEETHING, SLEEPING & MILESTONES

During last months update I talked about the month being a bit of a whirlwind of highs and lows and this month was very similar. However, I absolutely love this age. Freddie cracks me up every single day, he is just so funny and mischievous and his personality shines though more and more each day. I feel so proud that he is mine and that I have helped to shape the little person he is becoming.

On the other hand, I feel incredibly emotional that the next time I write an update, Freddie will be a year old. To say his first year has flown by is a total understatement. Of course, he will always be my baby but it is so bittersweet. I will be talking about that more including his first birthday preparations and gift ideas but for now, here is an update on Freddie at eleven months old.

BREASTFEEDING HACKS YOU NEED TO KNOW

As Freddie’s first birthday approaches and we reach my goal of one year of breastfeeding, I have been thinking about the tips or hacks I wish I had known. When Freddie was born I really had no idea what to expect and our breastfeeding journey hasn’t been without its challenges.

The tips/hacks below have saved me on many occasions and I know I will use them again if we are lucky enough to have a second baby. I hope they help you too wherever you are on your breastfeeding journey!

15 WAYS TO SAVE MONEY ON MATERNITY LEAVE

Maternity leave is a big financial adjustment. Whether you receive full pay for six weeks or six months, making a few little changes could have a big impact on your finances. For me, I found being on maternity leave made me feel quite financially vulnerable. I was conscious that we didn’t have as big a cushion to fall back on and I also felt a bit of guilt (entirely self inflicted).  Especially after my leave ended when I wasn’t contributing to our family income.

After making several small changes, I managed to save quite a bit of money and I hope that you might be able to use these tips to do the same.
