The lovely Rachel from ‘From Rachel Claire‘ created this tag to get everyone in the festive mood. I thought this was the perfect post considering it is now only four days until Christmas Eve! This is also the first day of my ‘Festive Five Challenge‘ over on Instagram. Every day, between now and the 24th December, post a photo matching the prompt with the hashtag #festivefivechallenge and tagging me @amyjaneandbaby. Today’s prompt is G I F T. It is going to be a great way to get into the festive mood, especially if it is your first Christmas with a little one! I can’t wait to check out everyone’s entries and I will be sharing them on my stories too. You can find more info here!
Right, enough rambling! On with the tag…
Favourite Christmas Movie & Why?
Arthur Christmas! It’s one of our Christmas traditions. We watch it every Christmas Eve and this year Freddie will be joining us too, I can’t wait.
Top 3 Songs On Your Christmas Playlist?
01. Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree
02. Merry Christmas Everyone
03. Jingle Bell Rock
Favourite Christmas Tradition?
Our boxing buffet! I love Christmas day, but boxing day is perhaps a sneaky favourite of mine. We have a huge buffet with tons of yummy food, a long countryside walk and then lots of chilling out. It is the best!
What Is On Your Christmas Bucket List?
I would love to go to Center Parcs over Christmas one year! We absolutely love Center Parcs and have had lots of lovely family weekends there. Having been in early January once before, just as they were taking the decorations down, it looked so magical.
Buddy The Elf Or Ebenezer Scrooge?
Buddy The Elf definitely. I love Christmas and having a little one has made everything so much more magical this year.
Best Thing About Being A Parent At Christmas?
It’s our first one but I am just so excited to experience everything through Freddie’s eyes. As he grows up, I am looking forward to getting a bit creative with leaving ‘clues’ that Santa has been. My mum used to go all out and knock over furniture (clumsy reindeers) and leave flour footprints (Santa) all through the house!
What Is One Present You Asked For As A Child, But Never Received?
That is a hard one because my mum has always been a pretty good present buyer- she knows me very well. However, it was a rule in our house that you were never given large electronics items as gifts- like laptops, phones etc. You had those when there was a genuine need for them. I appreciate that now as an adult and it is something to ponder with regards to how we will navigate those larger gifts for Freddie.
Do You Have Any Christmas Eve Traditions?
Yes! We have a little drinks/canapes family party at our house. Then we go for our annual Christmas Light-Spotting walk before coming home to snuggle up with Arthur Christmas.
Which Festive Beverage Tickles Your Tinsel?
Fresh Bucksfizz and my sister also made a delicious cocktail the year before last. It was berry flavoured and super refreshing! I missed out last year because I was pregnant so I am hoping she will bring them back this year.
Best Present You Ever Received?
I honestly have the worst memory but as an adult, when G booked a surprise trip to Edinburgh as a Christmas present. I absolutely loved it there and I hope to go back soon as a family.
Sprouts On Christmas Dinner? Yay Or Nay?
I really wasn’t keen until one year my sister baked them with some crispy bacon and other wonderful goodness. They were delicious.
What Is Your Ideal Christmas?
I really prefer to stay in one place rather than moving around and as we have a baby in tow, we have picked a place and are staying there all day which I am really looking forward to. Christmas is all about family and as long as I have them, some delicious food and get to see everyone opening up their presents, that’s perfect to me.
What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? I would love to know! I popped up a post all about my baby-friendly festive recipes, there is still time to give them a go!
Thanks for reading and see you on Sunday (Eek Christmas Eve!),
