2018 | EIGHT GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR

2018 | EIGHT GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR

I struggle a bit with idea of a resolution because it feels a bit like something that you can either get right or wrong- tricky when the world is so busy and life is constantly changing. However, setting goals feels a lot more achievable to me. Something to aim for but not something to feel guilty about if I don’t quite achieve it!

2018 seems like it might be a pretty big year for me. I am starting to look for part-time jobs (scary!), Freddie will be turning one and I would love to continue sharing on this blog and on my Instagram too. I began writing down my goals and realised, rather conveniently, that there were eight. Here they are…

WORK PART-TIMEAfter a lot of deliberating, mainly due to the cost of childcare (astronomical!), I have decided to look at working part-time. Not necessarily for the money because after childcare, it won’t be a lot. But for a lot of other reasons including maternity pay, career progression and frankly, the opportunity for a wee in private…

ATTEND MORE BABY GROUPS | Now that Freddie is so mobile, I definitely think he would benefit from attending another group. We already do baby sensory (which he loves), but when he turns one he will be too old so I need a few more to try. If you have any recommendations I would love to hear them!

NURTURE MY FRIENDSHIPS | I am very lucky to have a few friends who I have known for a long time now. I want to put much more time and effort into those friendships that make me feel good and those who are there through difficult times as well as good. I am often guilty of reading a message then doing something else and forgetting about it. I need to work on that!

REDISCOVER ME | I feel like I need to carve out a slice of time that is just for me. I’m not sure what this will look like yet but whether it’s going to a yoga class, an evening swim or a coffee on my own at the weekend, I need to prioritise rediscovering myself a little bit.

BOOK OUR FIRST FAMILY HOLIDAY | We went away to Center Parcs twice this year with Freddie and found it far easier than I had previously imagined. I really want to book, if not go on, our first proper family holiday in 2018. Obviously this is going to be dependent on a few different things however I think a week in St Ives or even a short haul break is an achievable goal!

COOK FROM SCRATCH | Pre-baby I cooked our evening meal from scratch most nights. However, now that we have Freddie I value time to unwind much more than elaborate cooking. I do miss it though and in an effort to be healthier I really want to cook from scratch at least three nights a week!

MONTHLY DATE NIGHT | Although G and I have been on quite a few dates since Freddie came along, they definitely have not been a regular thing. As much as having time for me is important, having time for us is important too. My mum absolutely loves to babysit so I really want to make sure we have a date night at least once a month.

GROW MY LITTLE BLOG | I have left this one until last because I want to say a massive THANK YOU. Whether this is your first visit or you’ve read many of my posts, thank you so much. This blog saved me a bit at a time when I was finding motherhood very lonely. Every time I receive a message from someone that has read a post on here (or on my Instagram), to say that my words made them laugh, feel less alone or helped them in any way at all, I honestly feel so happy. That is exactly why I started this blog and why I share so openly. To hear such kind words makes my day, each and very time!

What are your goals for 2018? Happy New Year and I will see you on Wednesday,

Thank you so much for reading,

Amy
