FEELING FESTIVE | THE CHRISTMAS TAG

The lovely Rachel from ‘From Rachel Claire‘ created this tag to get everyone in the festive mood. I thought this was the perfect post considering it is now only four days until Christmas Eve! This is also the first day of my ‘Festive Five Challenge‘ over on Instagram. Every day, between now and the 24th December, post a photo matching the prompt with the hashtag #festivefivechallenge and tagging me @amyjaneandbaby. Today’s prompt is G I F T. It is going to be a great way to get into the festive mood, especially if it is your first Christmas with a little one! I can’t wait to check out everyone’s entries and I will be sharing them on my stories too. You can find more info here!

Right, enough rambling! On with the tag…

HONEST MOTHERHOOD | WHEN YOU DON’T FEEL GOOD ENOUGH

I had planned a very different post for today but I felt it was important to do a bit of a raw Motherhood post. I have been struggling with this for a couple of weeks now and I want to share just in case you have felt the same.

After a lot of soul searching, some me-time and a long chat with my Mum (she is a gem!) I am feeling a lot more at peace with everything. Sharing my feelings honestly was the reason I started my blog in the first place and I have found that by doing so, I have built some really lovely relationships with other Mama’s. It has been my favourite thing to come out of this blog!

SENSORY PLAY | FREE, EASY CHRISTMAS-THEMED IDEAS

My last sensory play post was really well received and as Christmas is now upon us I thought it would be fun to do a festive version too. Everything you will need for these ideas you are likely to already have. After all, this time of year can get expensive! As Freddie is getting older, I have found our days are much easier when I plan in a bit of structured play. Unfortunately at the moment Freddie’s toys of choice include cables, my laptop, the Christmas tree and heavy candles… Rather than getting frustrated after the third time he has attempted to suck the end of a cable, setting up a simple invitation to play provides a much safer distraction!

FREDDIE’S TEN MONTH UPDATE | HIS FIRST WORD

Freddie’s tenth month has been a complete whirlwind. We have had lots of lovely moments including Freddie’s first word which was so special. Unfortunately Freddie has also struggled with teething and I was unlucky enough to catch two bugs in one week! He is now wearing size 12-18 month clothing because he is super duper long. Besides the teething, Freddie’s tenth month has been a lot of fun and with the run up to Christmas everything feels that bit more magical.

BLW | FESTIVE BABY TREATS (& ONE FOR THE MAMA’S!)

Now that December has arrived, I have really been getting into the festive spirit. I have started buying/making some of G and I’s favourite Christmas treats but realised the majority of them were unsuitable for BLW! As Freddie is almost ten months old, he can eat most things however I am very conscious of his salt/sugar intake. I thought it would be fun to make/find a few, BLW friendly treats that babies can enjoy over the festive period. My previous weaning posts have been really popular and Christmas baking is too exciting not to post about! And, because Christmas can be stressful, I have snuck in a very easy cocktail recipe for you too!
